While reading the paper this morning I read a short blurb about the Grand Re-opening and ribbon cutting of the Star Hollow Candle Company in Middleburg, PA. As a newcomer in the Susquehanna River Valley, and working to establish a foothold for my photography business in my new location, I eagerly started making plans to go and meet a fellow small business owner. After a quick web-search I found the schedule for the 3-day event, and started making moves to be there in time for the Ribbon Cutting.
Walking in to the antiqued double door entrance a swirl of all the warm autumn scents wrap around you. The décor of the shop is farm-house country-chic, trending with the decorating style seen in shows like Fixer Upper. This newly expanded shop is not just a candle store, they sell all sorts of home décor and accents to make your home give a warm hug to all who enter.

So this is a grand re-opening, can you tell me about the story behind the store and the re-opening? We expanded our store front adding about 1500 square feet. We also, did remodeling during the addition and have all new floors laid throughout the show-room.
Wow, that is quite an addition! Was this planned or have you expanded your business and required more space? We have been in business for about 15 years, and sell online as well, through our website, and through Amazon and Wayfair. In the expanded store we also sell candle and some soap making supplies.
I noticed you have a candle making area, and Dorthy showed me how she was doing the dipped flameless candles, do you make all the candles you sell? What about the other décor, and faux-floral arrangements, do you make those as well? We do make the candles and scented products, but not the décor.
Some of the products have two different prices, one for "outlet" and one for "retail". What does that mean? Right, the outlet price is if you purchase here in store, and the retail is for if you were to buy it somewhere else, like on an online shop.
If you are like me and a dreamer of crafts and adorable ideas, this is the shop for you. There is even a tent sale going on with out of season, and products the store is going to stop carrying. This cute little shop, with a whole candle making warehouse attached, is pretty neat and I am super excited to go back and start working on holiday gifts. I have to be completely honest, I might just have to go on a crafting spree and take advantage of the 50% tent sale.
What sort of crafts would you like to make? What are you thinking for holiday gifts and décor? Let me know in the comments!
